A trap adventure game based on the “escape game” system. After selecting a stage, the game transitions to the escape game following a conversation scene. Players control a cursor to examine various objects on the screen, acquire items, operate switches, and sometimes solve puzzles to aim for an escape. Items can be used independently or combined. Successfully escaping a stage results in stage clearance and the appearance of new stages. While stages cannot be replayed once cleared, after viewing at least one ending (including bad endings), players can use the “redo play” option to retry from previously cleared stages.
Though the system closely resembles typical escape games, this game is notable for its high difficulty level. Players must click on parts of the screen that are nearly blended into the background or extremely small points. Many of the puzzles and codes provide very few hints, contributing to the overall high difficulty. The director, Naoki Fukuda, acknowledged that some parts were not fully adjusted, and additional hints were included in the ported versions.
There are five protagonists, each with different stages to navigate. In the latter half of the game, the survival of the protagonists varies based on the selected stage, and each protagonist has a final stage that only appears if stages are cleared in a specific order, each with its own ending. Failing to unlock a protagonist’s final stage results in a bad ending, requiring the scenario to be redone. The final stage of the fifth protagonist, Itoka, serves as the game’s final chapter and is initially locked. It unlocks upon completing the final stages of the other four protagonists, though it still requires clearing stages in a specific order to appear. Clearing this stage brings the game to its grand finale.
