Sotsugyō or “Graduation” is a development simulation game compatible with the PC-9800 series released by Japan Home Video. The player takes on the role of a new teacher (Hayato Shinjo) tasked with guiding five troublesome students in Class 3B at the prestigious Seika Girls’ High School, aiming for admission to top universities. Depending on the parameters at the end of the third term, various outcomes are possible, such as becoming a working adult or marrying the protagonist. Despite the title “Graduation,” not all students necessarily graduate; some may repeat a year or face expulsion based on their parameters.

This game further developed the genre of development simulation established by “Princess Maker” (Gainax), focusing on multiple and distinctive characters to avoid being seen as a mere imitation. It was ported to various platforms starting with the PC Engine and received extensive media mix support after separating from and becoming independent of MediaWorks due to the “House Trouble” incident with Kadokawa Shoten. This game’s production methods and media mix strategy have been adopted by numerous games, including “Tokimeki Memorial” (Konami), establishing it as a standard in the gal game genre that continues to this day.
