Released in 1987, the Super Controller II is actually one of the best, most advanced controllers ever released for the Famicom. Far more than simply a third party controller with turbo fire built in, the Super Controller II offers very unusual features including auto fire for either button and/or even a direction on the dpad, slow-motion, the ability to set the amount of available ammunition (number of times you are allowed to press each button before it will refuse an input, useful in grinding in RPGs) a digital timer, two built-in LCD games that test your button pressing speed, and coolest of all, the “Memory Mode” which records all controller inputs and allows them to be replayed automatically. The main purpose of this mode was so the controller could automatically enter a lengthy password after the player did so once.
