City Hunter is a sidescrolling action game that’s pretty simple. It’s based on an obscure manga I didn’t read, but you don’t have to be familiar with any of it to enjoy this game. It’s a pretty good action title on the PC Engine and while it might seem a big generic at first, it doesn’t do anything wrong and the action does pick up at some points. The story is about a guy named Ryo Saeba and his detective agency that takes on really dangerous cases. The game has three scenarios that you can play in any order. The scenarios themselves aren’t too complicated. They all boil down to “find this thing and shoot whoever gets in your way”. That’s also the gameplay, by the way. I don’t know how true that is the actual manga, so if you’re familiar with it, you’ll have to make your own judgment.
