Since the popularity of Densha de GO!, a new work of Densha de GO! and a dedicated controller has been released on PlayStation 2 at the same time. In 2002, Train Simulator (TS) also released a controller exclusively for “Train Simulator Real THE Keihin Kyuko”. However, since each dedicated controller is basically limited to titles in which the corresponding games are released at the same time, players have to buy a controller every time a new game was released, and there is no compatibility in the corresponding controller for each title.

This multi-train controller (MTC) was released to support all Densha de GO! and Train Simulator titles on PlayStation 2. MTC adopts the T-type one-handle mascon that is common in major private railways. All of Densha de GO! dedicated controllers on PlayStation 2 are two-handle type, so this controller is the only one-handle type controller that can be used for Densha de GO! series on PlayStation 2.

The biggest feature of MTC is the high compatibility that it supports all of the two major train simulator games on PlayStation 2, Densha de GO! and Train Simulator (TS), with the number of notch stages of the mascon is realistically reproduced for each game. A notch gear cassette (also called a stage number switch) for each compatible work is included so that it can be operated even with the TS. When using it, insert and replace the notch gear cassette specified for each game to play.
