It is the second entry in the Famista series for the SFC and is officially licensed by the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization. From this game onward, players registered with kanji characters were displayed in kanji, and even players with katakana names, regardless of length (over six characters), were fully displayed (e.g., “Pachorek” became “Pachorec,” and “Brian” became “Bryant”). The names of stadiums were also written in kanji, except for some. Additionally, players could now choose between being the home or away team.

In Namcot Sports, which announces the game results, a four-panel comic titled Baseball-kun, written by the game designer Masahiro Shimamoto (under the alias SIMA SIMA), was serialized. Also, the manager’s name of the winning team (or the losing team in single-player mode) was displayed in the “manager’s comments” section, though it was in hiragana.

The development staff included Yoshihiro Kishimoto (Development Chief, under the alias KISSIE), Shimamoto, Yukito Hayashi (Game Design, under the alias OHAYASHI), Yoshinori Kawamoto (Music, under the alias KAWAGEN), Hidehiro Sasaki (Programming, under the alias HIDEBO), and others. Additionally, the then-President of Namco, Masaya Nakamura, appeared as the manager of the Namco Stars, using the nickname “Masayan.” Shimamoto, Hayashi, and Sasaki also appeared as fictional team managers in the game.
