The third installment in the Wonder Boy series. Compared to its predecessor, this game has a stronger emphasis on shooting elements. The first half of each stage features jump-action gameplay, while the second half shifts to a shooting style, both with forced scrolling. The game uses a life and remaining lives system, where life decreases upon contact with enemies or over time. There are six types of power-ups, each lasting 10 seconds, but collecting the same power-up consecutively extends the duration.
